Men’s Basketball Upended by Naz

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (February 3, 2018) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team dropped a 87-69 Empire 8 matchup with Nazareth College in the second half of a back-to-back conference weekend on Saturday. Frank Amari led the Ducks with 23 points.

Though both sides were even at 42 points apiece in the second half, the Ducks could not overcome a slow start and an 18-point halftime deficit. Thanks to the hot start, the Golden Flyers led nearly wire-to-wire.

Nazareth was paced by Daniel Jacob and Cody Green, who finished with 17 and 15 points, respectively. The Flyers shot 56 percent from the field and made 10-of-15 three's in the game. Jacob himself was 3-for-3.

Naz earned assists on 20 of their 33 field goals, and won the rebounding count 40-34.

Michael Zignorski and Thomas Cook followed Amari on the Stevens scoresheet, with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Cook was 6-7 from the floor with a team best eight rebounds and two blocks.

Amari made 9-of-13 field goals, including 3-4 from behind three-point land.

Jayson Winick added eight points for the Ducks.

The Ducks will return to Hoboken next weekend for the final two regular season home games this year. Stevens will host Alfred University at 6 p.m. Friday and then Houghton College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, which will be Senior Day.
