No. 14 Men’s Lacrosse Tops Hartwick to Remain Unbeaten in E8

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 14, 2018) – The No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team earned a solid 11-5 victory over Hartwick College at home on Saturday. The Duck defense was especially effective; Hartwick scored in neither the first nor the fourth quarter and managed only five goals in the game.

Defenseman Daniel Crotty led the unit with three ground balls and three forced turnovers, while Dallas Creamer added five scoops off the turf and Bubba Brennan had three. Max Bailey quarterbacked the offense with a game-best four assists and added a goal.

The Ducks seemed like they might run away with the win. Stevens was up 5-0 after the first period and scored the game's first seven goals.

Still, the Hawks showed spunk in attempting their comeback. Hartwick scored five of the next six goals after that, cutting into the Stevens lead so that the count was 8-5 with 12:36 remaining in the third quarter. Stevens was held scoreless for nearly 10 minutes in the third while Hartwick counterpunched

But the Ducks were able to rally; Eric Radbourne earned his hat trick with 3:11 to go in the third and Ryan Gebhardt and John Boutureira also scored in the quarter to give Stevens some breathing room. Neither team scored on 18 combined fourth-quarter shots, and the Ducks held on to win 11-5.

"It was good to get another conference win," said head coach Gene Peluso. "Hartwick was a good group and we had our hand full at times, but we did a good job of closing out the game and get the win. We had strong games by Dallas Creamer, Eric Radbourne, Roman Bellisari, Will Reed, and Carson White."

  • Nicholas Carnovale and Connor Murphy combined to go 12-15 in faceoffs; Murphy was a perfect 4-4.
  • White made a dozen saves to earn the win
  • Cooper Waymire also saw action between the pipes and stopped all three shots he faced
  • Brendan Monteleone and Boutureira finished with two goals each
  • Bellisari forced two Hawk turnovers
