CAMDEN, N.J. (April 8, 2018)  – Senior
Alex Detweiler continued his recent streak with a pair of RBIs, but the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with an 11-4 setback to Rutgers University-Camden Sunday, in a non-conference game at Campbell's Field.
The first baseman had one of Stevens' four hits on the afternoon and delivered a two-run single, extending his on-base streak to 20 games. The Sarasota, Florida native has reached base in 27 of 28 games this season and has driven in seven runs over his last three games. Detweiler leads the Empire 8 Conference with 30 RBI.
Sophomore
Patrick Rood had a pair of hits and classmate
John Hamill collecting his first collegiate RBI with a ninth-inning groundout for Stevens, who fell to 16-12 on the year. The Ducks remain atop the Empire 8 Conference standings at 9-3 (18 points).
Wayne Jackson had a two-run triple for the Scarlet Raptors as part of a five-run, fifth inning that broke open a 3-3 game. Rutgers-Camden, who has won 10 of its last 11 games, improved to 14-6 on the year.
"Although we did not get result we wanted today, it was a good week for us, going 4-2," said head coach
Kristaps Aldins. "We will now rest up a bit, which is much needed after six games in four days, and prepare for our Wednesday contest against Old Westbury."
Junior
Ryan Larsen made his second career start and allowed three runs on two hits over four innings. The right-hander struck out five.Â

Rutgers-Camden broke the game in the fifth against reliever
Alex Smith (2-1). R.J. Concepcion singled to right to start the rally. Brandon Cornelius singled to third and Smith plunked Matt Yanick to load the bases. After Nolan Gerold recorded the first out of the inning with a sacrifice fly to score Concepcion, Jackson cleared the bases with a triple to right center. John DeSantis plated the fourth run of the frame with a fielder's choice and promptly stole second. Matthew Stoots singled to center to score the Rutgers-Camden first baseman, prompting a pitching change. Smith had been unscored on in his two previous appearances. Freshman
Eli Zuckerman struck Billy Eisler and Stoots was nabbed in a rundown to end the inning.Â
Tommy Dolaghan (1-0) pitched 4 2-3 shutout innings to earn the victory.
Freshmen
Tyler Armstrong and Michael Benz combined to strike out two over two shutout innings in their collegiate debuts.
Sophomore
Shaye Bartnick went 0-for-1 with a pair of walks. The Brockport, New York native has reached base five times in his two starts this season.
Up Next: Baseball heads to Old Westbury, New York for a non-conference game against SUNY-Old Westbury on Wednesday, April 11. This will be the third time the teams have attempted to play in 2018, with the prior two attempts slated for Hoboken. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
