Men’s Tennis falls to nationally-ranked Brandeis

  • Short Story: The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team reached tiebreakers in three different matches, but suffered a hard-fought 8-1 setback to Brandeis University Sunday in a non-conference match at the Stevens Tennis Courts. The Ducks earned their lone victory at No. 6 singles, where freshman Mark Kanevsky won in straight sets.

How It Happened
  • Brandeis took the first point of the match at No. 3 doubles. 
  • Senior Kyle Henry paired with Kanevsky to battle the No. 9 duo in the country, Anupreeth Coramutla and David Aizenberg at first doubles. The Stevens pair battled gamely before falling 8-6.
  • In the second doubles slot, senior Danny Polk and freshman Bryan Szayna dropped a 9-8 decision to Tyler Ng and Jackson Kogan. The score was 9-7 in the tiebreaker.
  • After taking all three of the doubles points, Brandeis earned straight-set wins at third and fourth singles to clinch the match.
  • Senior William Persson fell to regionally-ranked Jackson Kogan at second singles (6-3, 7-6). The second-set tiebreaker was 7-5.
  • Szayna topped Ng in the first set at fifth singles, 7-6 (7-4), before Ng rallied to win the match via a 10-3 super tiebreaker.
  • Kanevsky topped Benjamin Wolfe 7-5, 6-4 to close out the afternoon.
