WASHINGTON, Pa. (September 15, 2018)  – Freshman
Emily Franco made seven saves but Washington & Jefferson scored on the final play of regulation to defeat the Stevens Institute of Technology Field Hockey team 1-0 Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 Conference game at Cameron Stadium.
Over the final ten minutes of regulation, Franco made three saves as the Presidents put heavy pressure on the Ducks, earning six penalty corners. Over the final 3:04, Washington & Jefferson earned four penalty corners alone, with the final one called right as time expired to end the second half.Â
The Presidents' Rachel Buyan began the game-winning play, taking the penalty corner from the right of the cage. Sophomore

A scramble ensued with the ball caroming to Buyan who pushed the ball beyond the reach of Franco's outstretched arms into the corner of the cage for the winning score.
The setback evened Stevens record at 3-3. Washington & Jefferson moved to 1-0 in E8 play and remained a perfect 5-0 on the season.
