Women's Swimming Named Scholar All-America Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 22, 2019) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming program was honored as a Scholar All-America team for the Fall 2018 semester by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Tuesday. It is the 12th honor for the women and the first since the Spring 2016 semester.

The organizations selected a record 713 teams from 460 institutions on the basis of their fall grade point averages. The Stevens women's swimming team's cumulative GPA of 3.50 ranks in the top-45 of the 171 Division III women's swimming and diving programs that were honored.

"We're thrilled to be named a CSCAA Scholar All-America team," stated head men's and women's swimming coach Paul Hughes. "This really demonstrates what we see our student-athletes doing everyday: pushing themselves to excel in the classroom and the pool."

The top-10 Division III women's swimming and diving programs and their respective grade point averages are St. Catherine University (3.75), Williams College (3.75), Macalester College (3.72), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (3.72), Washington University in St. Louis (3.69), Redlands University (3.67), Simmons College (3.66), Case Western Reserve University (3.64), Springfield College (3.63) and The University of Chicago (3.63).

The Scholar All-America team award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The College Swimming Coaches Association is the oldest coaches organization in America. In addition to Scholar All-America awards, the CSCAA recognizes All-American Swimmers and Divers at the NCAA championships every year.
