WILKES-BARRE, PA. (October 20, 2019) – Tied at 0-0 heading into the fourth quarter, Wilkes University Zoe Stepanski found the back of the net on a penalty shot in the 51st minute to give the Colonels a 1-0 victory over the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team Saturday at Schmidt Stadium.
The Ducks out-shot Wilkes 21-3 in the contest but could not register a goal as they dropped to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in MAC Freedom competition.
The Colonels, meanwhile, improved their overall record to 9-7 and moved to 2-2 in conference play with the victory.

Brynn Froehlich each had four shots apiece to lead the team but could not get a shot past Wilkes' goalkeeper Vanessa Damgaard who registerd nine saves in the victory.

- In addition to holding a large edge in shots, the Ducks also earned 14 penalty corners compared to just three for Wilkes.
- The Ducks defense was stout throughout, holding Wilkes to three total shots and two on goal.
- Stevens goalkeeper Emily Franco posted her eighth game of allowing one goal or less.
- With the loss, Stevens is now 6-4 this season in games decided by one goal.
- Stevens is now tied for third place in the MAC Freedom with Wilkes and Misericordia at 2-2 in conference play.
