HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 19, 2019) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to four Saturday with a 3-1 victory over The Catholic University of America and a 3-0 sweep of Hamilton College as they celebrated Senior Day inside Canavan Arena in the final day of the New Jersey Challenge.
In the victory over Hamilton, Ducks' sophomore libero
Elizabeth Chu became the 11th player in program history to register 1,000 digs in her career and was named to the all-tournament team as Stevens moved to 13-11 overall on the year.
Prior to the contest against the Continentals, the Ducks honored seniors

Shelby Stewart who have compiled a 96-35 overall record in their careers with Stevens.
In the first matchup of the day against Catholic, freshman
Allie Morton racked up a career-high 14 kills and 21 digs for her first career double-double to lead the Ducks to a 25-14, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19 win.
Stevens was able to follow it up with a 25-17, 25-17, 26-24 victory over Catholic thanks to 14 kills by Hain as well as 22 digs from Morton and Chu.
The Ducks have now won four consecutive games, matching their longest winning streak of the season.
Catholic got 10 kills by Isabelle Cooper while Hamilton libero Nikki Matsuoka produced 26 digs to both earn all-tournament team honors.
Volleys and Points (Match One)
- In the opening set of the first contest, the Ducks were able to jump out to an early 7-2 lead to start the match.
- Leading 14-9, Stevens created more separation with a 6-1 run to make the score 20-10.
- The Ducks then scored three of the final four points of the set to clinch the set 25-14.
- The second set started much like the first, with Stevens opening the set by grabbing six of the first seven points.
- The Cardinals responded immediately, rattling off four straight points to cut the deficit to one.
- Trailing 15-14, Stevens took control of the set with a 7-1 flurry to make the score 21-16.
- After Catholic clawed their way back into the set with four consecutive points of their own, the Ducks closed the set strong with a 4-2 run to win the set 25-22.
- The two teams traded a pair of 4-0 runs early in the third set with the Cardinals earning a 9-7 advantage.
- Falling behind 18-13 in the set, Stevens cut the deficit to one after scoring four straight points.
- Trading points back-and-forth for the remainder of the set, Catholic was able to stave off a set point while trailing 24-23 and eventually went on to win the final three points to clinch a 26-24 win in the set.
- The Ducks kicked off the fourth set much like they did the first two, taking an early 6-2 lead.
- Holding a 9-7 edge, Stevens created some breathing room with a 7-0 run to extend the lead to nine.
- Catholic attempted to climb back into the contest late, scoring three straight points to make the score 22-17.
- The Ducks answered, however, winning three of the final five points of the match to clinch a 25-19 win.
Match Point (Match One)
- King put the contest away for Stevens, registering her game-high 14th kill thanks to Kathleen Riegner's 47th assist to win the contest 3-1.
Inside the Numbers (Match One)
- Stevens did a ton of work at the net defensively, out-blocking Catholic 11-5.
- In total, the Ducks out-hit Catholic .188 to .087 including a .308 attack percentage in the first set.
- Riegner produced her seventh double-double of the season with 47 assists and 16 digs in the victory.
- At the point of attack, King, Morton, Hain and Stewart all racked up double-digit kills in the win.
- Additionally, five Ducks were able to generate at least 10 digs as Morton, Riegner, Jillian Roumbanis, Chu and King all accomplished the feat.
Unsung Hero (Match One)
- Stewart was fantastic in the match, nearly registering a triple-double with 10 kills, nine digs and seven blocks.
Volleys and Points (Match Two)
- The two teams traded points early in the opening set, with neither team leading by more than two points until the halfway point in the match.
- Trailing 15-14, the Ducks turned it on with and 11-3 run to close the set and win 25-17.
- Stevens continued the momentum to open the second set, scoring nine of the first 11 points to open the stanza.
- After Hamilton cut the deficit to four, the Ducks responded again with a 6-0 run to make the score 24-14.
- The Continentals staved off three set points but could not add any more as King produced a kill to win the set 25-17.
- The Ducks opened the third and final set with a 5-1 run, but Hamilton responded with a 9-2 run of their own to take a 10-7 lead.
- Trailing 19-14, Stevens answered once again with a 6-1 run to tie the match at 20.
- The Continentals were able to force a set point with the score 24-23, but could not put the set away as the Ducks rattled off three straight points to win the set 26-24 and sweep the match.
Match Point (Match Two)
- Stewart produced her second service ace of the match to clinch the victory for the Ducks and extend the winning streak to four.
Inside the Numbers (Match Two)
- In the third set of the contest, Chu became the fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 digs in a career. The sophomore from Old Tappan, New Jersey, accomplished the milestone in 57 career games, tying the fastest to do it with Sydni Horner.
- The Ducks were fantastic from the service line, picking up 10 service aces compared to just one from Hamilton.
- With 10 kills and just one error on 20 swings, Stewart had a .450 attack percentage in the match.
- After producing back-to-back contests with double-digit kills, Hain now has 10 contests this season with at least 10 kills.
- Chu and Morton led the Stevens defensive attack, both racking up 22 digs in the victory.
Unsung Hero (Match Two)
- King nearly was able to reach the double-double milestone for the ninth time this season with nine kills and 12 digs in the match.

- "This weekend we just had a lot of fun playing with each other. We had good competition, but when we were playing looking and taking care of our jobs the results seemed to come. We're excited to keep this momentum going with another conference match on Tuesday."
