Isabelle Rivera picked up a pair of individual titles while seniors
Isabella Fairman and
Samantha Zdesar both grabbed an individual victory as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team fell 164-97 Saturday against The College of New Jersey at DeBaun Aquatic Center.
Along with the individual titles, the Ducks also took home a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as they dropped to 1-1 overall in dual meets on the season.
TCNJ picked up a total of nine individual victories in the dual in what was their first meet of the year as they moved to 1-0 on the young campaign.
Rivera won the 50-yard freestyle as well as the 100-yard butterfly. The 2018 Second Team All-Empire 8 selection has now won all five individual events she has raced in this season after picking up victories in the 50-yard backstroke, the 50-yard free and the 50-yard fly against Widener earlier this season.
After finishing in second place in her first event of the day, Fairman followed it up by taking home the victory in the 500-yard free with a final time of 5:16.13.
Zdesar, meanwhile, grabbed the win in the 1000-yard freestyle, blowing the competition away and winning the event by nearly 20 seconds.
Top Performers
- In her first individual event of the day, Rivera swam a season-best 25.09 to win the 50-yard free. She then produced a final time of 59.66 in the 100-yard fly to win by over a second.
- With the time of 5:16.13, Fairman won the 500-free by over 18 seconds for her fourth individual victory of the season.
- Zdesar touched the wall in 11:09.53 in the 1000-freestyle to grab the victory and also finished third in the 100-yard freestyle later in the competition.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Rivera, Zdesar, Madie DeJong and Fairman combined to put together a time of 3:44.01 to close the meet with a victory for the Ducks.
- Emma Beaney produced a pair of runner-up finishes on the day, finishing in second place in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:10.91 and 2:34.62, respectively.
- Along with the victory as a part of the 400-yard freestyle, DeJong also produced a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a final time of 2:05.19.

- "It's always great to race against a strong team like TCNJ. While we lost the meet, we had a lot of solid times considering our training load. We'll use this meet as a building block moving forward."

- The Ducks will travel to Palladium Athletic Facility in New York, New York, for the New York University Invitational Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9.
