GILBERT, Ariz. (November 7, 2019) – After posting 12 saves in the thrilling 3-2 victory over FDU-Florham and being named MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week, Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey goalkeeper
Emily Franco picked up Play Safe Turf & Track/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Honorable Mention Player of the Week, the NFHCA announced Wednesday.
Franco also stopped five of seven penalty strokes in the penalty shootout against the Devils, who were previously unbeaten in MAC Freedom play.
She is the first Duck to grab the honor since
Victoria Alvarez took home the accolade on Oct. 17, 2017.
"The recognition for Franco is well deserved this week," head coach
Meredith Spencer-Blaetz. "She went into our game Wednesday with the right attitude and a no-nonsense mentality."
This season, Franco posted 104 total saves which ranks 10th all-time in single season program history.
