HOBOKEN, NJ. (April 24, 2019) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team hosted The College of New Jersey in their last non-conference match of the season. The Ducks came to play and posted a huge 5-4 win over #29 TCNJ at Stevens Tennis Courts on Wednesday. It was a back and forth affair with the match coming down to the No. 6 singles flight. Thanks to some late match heroics by freshman
Arjun Krishnan the Ducks were able to secure the upset and move to 10-9 on the year, the Lions drop to 14-3. Stevens continues to prove to be a tough out at home, moving to 5-0 at their home courts and increase their current winning streak to four.
TCNJ got off to a good start by taking the No. 3 and No. 2 doubles flight to take an early 2-0 lead. Sophomore

Marc Feliu Gomez continue their winning ways at No.1 doubles. The duo posted a solid 8-5 win to get the first point on the board for the Ducks and some momentum heading into the singles competition.
There were some great match ups in singles with four of the six matches going to three sets. Sophomore
Bryan Szayna came up big with a straight set win against Tim Gavornik 6-0, 7-5 to even up the team score. The Lions answered with two three set wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 singles flights to take a 4-2 lead and putting them one point away from securing the match. Stevens was determined to pull off the comeback and sophomore
Keegan Morris kept the match alive with a solid come from behind victory. After dropping the first set, Morris took the next two sets 6-1, 6-4 and started to swing momentum back in favor of the Ducks. Sophomore
Gabriel Sifuentes won a wild first set in tiebreaker 7-6 (12-10) and then cruised to a 6-2 win in set two in the fifth singles flight to even the team score at four.
Arjun Krishnan came up clutch for Stevens by winning a three-set thriller and clinching the match win. The Plainsboro, NJ native secured the biggest win of his young career by taking the final two sets 7-5, 6-4 over Achyuth Balijepalle.
"Today was one of the most special matches I've been a part of as a college coach," remarked Head Coach
Steve Gachko. "I couldn't be prouder of this young group for their resilience, coming back from a 3-4 match deficit to win 5-4 vs a top-30 nationally ranked team."

Up Next: The men's tennis team will wrap up the regular season with two Empire 8 doubleheader this Saturday. Stevens will take on Elmira College at 12 PM and The Sage College at 2:00 PM at Stevens Tennis Courts.
