HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 1, 2020) – In the final home dual meet for the class of 2020, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team won seven total events in a 140-122 defeat at the hands of Hartwick College Saturday inside DeBaun Aquatic Center.
Stevens picked up victories in the 400-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard backstroke, the 200-yard breaststroke, the 500-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley on the day.
Seniors
Samantha Zdesar and
Isabella Fairman along with junior
Isabelle Rivera and freshman
Emma Beaney started the meet with a bang, winning the 400-medley relay with a final time of 4:09.27.
Fairman and Rivera were not done winning events, however, taking home the gold in both the 200 and 500 free and the 100-back and 100-fly, respectively, en route to three total first place finishes each on the day.
Beaney also picked up an individual win on the day, touching the wall in 2:34.46 in the 200-breast for first place.
The final gold medal winner on the day was junior
Alexis Colasurdo who grabbed first place in the 200-yard IM with a final time of 2:19.54.

Top Performers
- In the last dual of her career, Fairman went out with a bang, touching the wall in 1:59.81 in the 200-free and 5:18.72 in the 500-free for two individual victories in two races on the day.
- Rivera touched the wall in 1:02.17 and 1:00.62 in the 100 back and fly, respectively, for her two victories.
- After a runner-up finish with a final time of 1:11.68 in the 100-breast, Beaney avenged her loss to Hartwick's Gina Grauer in the 200-breast with a final time of 2:34.46 to beat Grauer by over a second.
- Colasurdo finished just behind Beaney in the 100-breast for third place and followed it up with a final time of 2:19.54 for her victory in the 200-IM.
- Zdesar narrowly missed out on an individual win, coming in second place in both the 1,000-yard freestyle as well as the 200-yard backstroke with times of 11:20.76 and 2:20.83, respectively.
- Sophomores Madie DeJong and Kaitlyn Chen along with junior April Ullrich finished in second, third and fourth place respectively in the 50-yard freestyle for the Ducks.
- Senior Sarah Chan was Stevens' top performer in the 100-yard freestyle, swimming a final time of 59.53 for third place.
- Senior Kyla Barry earned a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a final time of 2:46.14.
- Senior Meaghan Wilson swam times of 1:05.90 and 2:29.05 for a pair of fourth-place finishes in both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly.
Next Up
- The Ducks will return to the pool Thursday, Feb. 13 for the first day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pennsylvania.
