Patterson Earns MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Sophomore out of Midland Park, N.J., collects honor for first time in her career

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2021) – After posting double-digit kills in three consecutive matches on the week, Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball sophomore Liz Patterson was named the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her collegiate career.

Patterson becomes the second Stevens student-athlete to win the award this season and helps the Ducks take the accolade for the second consecutive week after first-year Parker Adkins garnered the honor on Oct. 11.

"I'm so proud of LP for accomplishing this award," head coach Brianna Jones said. "It was fun to watch her competitive nature shine all weekend."

The Midland Park, N.J., native started the week with a bang as she racked up 15 kills, which was a career-best, on 33 swings for an impressive .303 attack percentage in a 3-1 win over Skidmore.

Patterson did not stop there, however, producing 10 kills and a remarkable .350 attack percentage to help Stevens rally from behind to defeat Wentworth 3-1 in the first match of a doubleheader Saturday.

She then saved her best performance for last as she set a new career-high once again in a thrilling 3-2 win over Babson with 18 kills while also adding seven digs to lead the Ducks to the come from behind reverse sweep.

In total, Patterson is averaging 2.5 kills per set this season to lead the team and rank seventh in the MAC Freedom.

Next Up: Stevens returns to the court Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. against Lycoming at the DeBaun Athletic Complex. The Ducks will clinch a top-two seed and a host spot in the first round of the conference tournament with a victory.
