MADISON, N.J. (October 27, 2021) – Graduate student
Cristiano Hocken finished with a goal and an assist as the Stevens Institute of Technology picked up an important three points with a 2-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Campus Wednesday in a MAC Freedom match at Robert T. Shields Field.
Senior
Dylan Inguardi added his first collegiate goal for the Ducks, who won their second straight to improve to 9-6-1 on the year and to 4-3 in conference play. The victory moved Stevens into a fourth-place tie with Wilkes in the conference standings. With 12 points, both the Ducks and the Colonels sit three points behind Arcadia, King's and Misericordia. A victory over Lycoming Saturday will clinch a postseason berth for the Ducks. Seven of the nine MAC Freedom teams remain alive in the hunt for the league's championship tournament.
Senior
Aedan Boriotti made a pair of saves to post his fifth clean sheet of the season and second in as many matches. Tiernan Gray made 12 saves for FDU-Florham, who fell to 8-8-2 on the year and to 2-5-1 in league play.
Hocken broke through in the 13th minute. The New Providence, New Jersey native collected a long pass from junior
Michael Gomez in open space. Gray came off his line to make a play, but Hocken floated the ball over Gray and then pushed the ball into the empty net for his sixth goal of the season. Hocken, who finished with three points on the evening, has nearly matched his point per match performance from 2019, which led to Hocken earning MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Year honors.
The Ducks doubled their lead in the 84th minute. Hocken sent a crossing ball through the 18-yard box, to Inguardi, who was unmarked by FDU. Inguardi sent a crossing shot into the back of the net for his first career point.
