Jess Broad of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team was named MAC Freedom Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It's the third straight week that Broad has been recognized by the league office and marks the third weekly honor for the women's basketball program this season. Broad is the first student-athlete since at least 2010 to earn three straight MAC Freedom Player of the Week awards.
Broad averaged 11 points, 12 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.5 steals, and 2.5 blocks over a pair of conference victories over Arcadia and Lycoming. Against the Knights, the Marlboro, New Jersey native scored 12 points and 10 rebounds, while adding five assists and four steals. She followed that up with 10 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, three steals and two assists against the Warriors, helping the Ducks extend their winning streak to seven. Broad is ranked seventh in the conference in scoring, third in rebounding, third in field-goal percentage and first in blocks.
