HOBOKEN, N.J. (July 26, 2021)  – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team released its 2021 competition schedule Monday. The calendar features 17 matches, including eight at the DeBaun Athletic Complex, where the Ducks are 91-13-8 since 2010, including 32-7-4 under sixth-year head coach
Dale Jordan. Six of this year's opponents participated in either the 2018 or 2019 Division III Men's Soccer Championship.
"I know the student-athletes and staff are really excited to get back at it and have a season this year!" Jordan said. "This season, we have an extremely competitive non-conference schedule. The aim of such a difficult schedule is to prepare the team for the demands of our conference schedule. We are very excited about the challenge that lies ahead and we can't wait to get started"
The 2021 season kicks off on Sept. 1 with a home fixture against Rutgers-Newark, marking the sixth season-opening match played in Hoboken since 2014. The Ducks are 6-4 against the Scarlet Raiders since 2002, with half of the contests decided by one goal. Stevens will enter the contest winners of three straight season-openers. The match will be the first countable intercollegiate competition for the program since Nov. 6, 2019.
The Ducks then head to upstate New York for a pair of matches against SUNY Cortland (Sept. 4) and Ithaca College (Sept. 5). The contest with the Red Dragons will be the first meeting between the programs since the second round of the 2017 NCAA Championship, which saw the Ducks advance with a 2-1 victory on alumnus Chris Cesario's header in the 90th minute. Interestingly enough, both meetings between SUNY Cortland and Stevens have taken place at T. Fred Holloway Field.
Stevens will travel to the Empire State for the second weekend in a row on Sept. 11 for a non-conference matchup with Vassar College before heading to Massachusetts for a contest at Springfield College one day later. The Ducks bested the Pride 2-1 in their last meeting at Brock-Affleck Field.
A Saturday matchup under the DeBaun Athletic Complex lights against New York University on Sept. 18 kicks off three straight home fixtures. The College of New Jersey comes to Hoboken on Sept. 22 before Stevenson University comes to campus for a Saturday afternoon match on Sept. 25 to close out the longest homestand of the season. Stevens has not hosted the Violets since the 2013 season, while the Mustangs make their first trip to the Mile Square City.
The Ducks return to New England to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule on Sept. 28 with a matchup at perennial power, Amherst College. The teams have only met twice in their illustrious histories, with Stevens winning both matches, including a 4-1 triumph in the 2008 national semifinal.
The eight-match MAC Freedom slate gets underway on Oct. 2, when the Ducks welcome DeSales University to campus. Home contests follow against Arcadia University (Oct. 13), Wilkes University (Oct. 23) and Lycoming College (Oct. 3), while Stevens travels to Delaware Valley (Oct. 5), King's College (Oct. 9), Misericordia University (Oct. 16) and FDU-Florham (Oct. 27). New to the MAC Freedom following a slight conference realignment after the addition of York (Pa.) College to the MAC Commonwealth, the regular-season finale against Lycoming will be the first meeting between the programs.
Postseason play begins on Nov. 1 with the MAC Freedom play-in contest and a conference champion is scheduled to be crowned on Nov. 6.
