No. 3 Men's Soccer Opens MAC Freedom Play with a Win Over King's

The Ducks won by a score of 2-0 and remain undefeated on the season

HOBOKEN, N.J. (Oct. 1, 2022) – The No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team opened MAC Freedom play at home with a 2-0 win over King's College. Senior Bruno Andino and sophomore Emerico Vespucci both scored for the Ducks who remained undefeated on the season.

Stevens struck in the 14th minute to take the early 1-0 lead. Senior Emerson Kuzemka played a long ball down the right side of the field that was picked up by Andino. Andino was able to slip the ball past the Monarchs' goalkeeper for his team-leading fourth goal of the season. That proved to be the only goal of the first 45 minutes and Stevens took their 1-0 lead into halftime.

The second half did not see any goals for the first 30 minutes of play, but Stevens continued to control much of the action. The Ducks produced 11 shots in the second half and earned six corner kicks. The Monarchs mustered just four shots and two corner kicks. Vespucci added the insurance goal in the 82nd minute. Graduate student Adam Silva sent in a cross and Vespucci fired it home to help secure the 2-0 victory.

Stevens improved to 8-0-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play on the season and King's fell to 4-5-2 and 0-1 in conference play.
