HOBOKEN, N.J. (Oct. 5, 2022) – The No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie with FDU-Florham in a MAC Freedom matchup on Wednesday night. The draw ended an eight-game winning streak for the Ducks, but they remain undefeated on the season.
Stevens controlled much of the play in the game. In the first half, the Ducks outshot the Devils by a total of 6 to 1 and led in corner kicks in the first 45 minutes by a tally of 4-2. Stevens kept much of the action in FDU-Florham's half of the field and was tactical in their attack, controlling possession and looking for the right opportunity. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to break through and went into the break tied 0-0.
The second half was similar to the first, but the Ducks upped the pressure as they looked to find a win in the final 45 minutes of action. Stevens forced FDU-Florham goalkeeper Tiernan Grey to make five saves in the half and he finished the game with six saves total. The Ducks kept the Devils pinned in their own end for majority of the half, but FDU's back line proved to be up to the task as they warded off Stevens. Although there were several scoring opportunities late in the game, Stevens was unable to find a game-winner and the score was 0-0 when the final whistle sounded.
With the draw the Ducks moved to 8-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play and the Devils moved to 5-2-3 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.
