No. 4 Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten with Win over Lycoming

The Ducks did not allow a goal for the sixth-straight game

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2022) – The No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated MAC Freedom opponent Lycoming College by a score of 2-0 on the road, Saturday afternoon. Graduate student Gabriel Souza and first-year Kyle Rothwell each scored as the Ducks remain unbeaten on the season.

Both sides saw opportunities in the first half, but it was Stevens who capitalized on their chances. The Ducks took five shots in the half and place four of them on goal. The Warriors managed to get off four shots, but only one of them found the net. Souza broke through for Stevens in the 25th minute on an unassisted effort. It was the only goal of the half and the Ducks took their 1-0 lead into halftime.

Lycoming stepped up their play in the second half, but senior goalkeeper Justin Cross and Stevens' back line were up to the task. Cross made four saves in the final 45 minutes of action and warded off the Warrior attack. Lycoming outshot the Ducks 8-2 in the second and earned four corners to Stevens' zero. Despite fewer opportunities in the second, the Ducks were still able to add to their lead. Rothwell scored his first collegiate goal in the 90th minute and was assisted by graduate Leo Musacchia to help secure the 2-0 victory.
