HOBOKEN, N.J. (Oct. 22, 2022) – The No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team secured the top seed in the MAC Freedom tournament with a home win over Misericordia University, Saturday night. The Ducks defeated the Cougars by a score of 3-0 and remained unbeaten on the season.
Both teams managed to challenge the opposition's goalkeeper, but it was Stevens who capitalized on their opportunities in the shutout win. It was senior
Bruno Andino who scored the Ducks' lone goal in the first half. He corralled a rebound off a shot from graduate student
Adam Silva and smashed it home for the 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. Each side had six shots in the first 45 minutes, but it was Stevens who went into halftime with the one-goal lead.
The Ducks came out flying in the second and doubled their lead just 89 seconds into the half. Graduate student
Sean Masur buried the ball into the top left corner from the edge of the six-yard box and was assisted by senior
Emerson Kuzemka to make the score 2-0. The third and final goal came in the 71st minute. Sophomore
Emerico Vespucci beat the defender down the left sideline and fired a cross directly to the foot of Kuzemka in front of the net who sent it home on a one-touch effort. Stevens cruised to the 3-0 victory after that point.
