Men’s Indoor Track & Field Picked Fourth in Pre-Championship Poll

ANNVILLE, Pa. (February 24, 2022)  – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's indoor track & field team was selected fourth in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Pre-Championship poll, the league office announced. The vote was conducted among the league's 15 head coaches. 

Stevens totaled 151 points to slot between Widener (172) and DeSales (147). Lebanon Valley and Messiah each received six first-place votes to total 181 points and earn the pre-championship favorite designation. Widener, Stevens and DeSales rounded out the top-five. The Ducks will seek to defend their 2020 championship, topping the field in the program's first season in the MAC; the 2021 indoor conference meet was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Heading into the conference championship meet, the Ducks hold seven top-five seeds. Junior Ronnie Melao (1:59.76) is ranked second in the 800, the 4x200-meter relay team (1:36.08) is ranked fourth, the distance medley relay team (11:10.29) is ranked second, senior Jonathan Scamardella (1.86 meters) is ranked fifth in the high jump and first (4,187 points) in the heptathlon, senior Nicolas Re (4.46 meters), junior Kenneth Howell (6.60 meters) is ranked fifth in the long jump.

The two-day meet will be contested at the Tom and Helen Flynn PLEX, marking the program's third meet held at the facility this season.
