HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 26) - Junior
Anthony Pron hurled five solid innings to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team past Drew University 16-3 in a non-conference contest played at Dobbelaar Field.
Â
Pron (2-1) picked up his second victory on the season, giving up two earned runs, while collecting four strikeouts and walking only two. Graduate student

Hoxie (0-3) was tagged with the loss for the Rangers, giving up six runs over three-plus innings of work.
Â
Offensively the Ducks were led by graduate student
Hunter Silvernail's three hits and two RBI and classmate
Thomas Paulich's two hit, three runs scored, two RBI afternoon. With the loss the Rangers dropped to 1-4 on the young season. Drew enjoyed multiple hit contributions from K.J. Hallgren and Jake Welsh.
Â
"Overall our coaching staff is very pleased with today's result" commented head coach
Kristaps Aldins. "Our pitching staff did a good job keeping Drew's hitters off-balance and a lot of our hitters had some excellent at-bats. We look forward to carrying over the momentum from today's win into tomorrow's key regional matchup against Swarthmore."
Â
Drew got on the board first thanks to an RBI double from Dallas Lorenzetti in the second inning, driving in Hallgren who earlier had reached on a single up the middle. The Ducks responded immediately in the bottom half of the frame with an RBI single from junior
Johnny Albrecht, as well as a key, run-scoring error on first-year
Evan Pravato's grounder.
Stevens began to pull away in the third, tacking on two runs on Paulich's two-run double. The lead then swelled to 6-2 one inning later, as Silvernail got involved again in the action with a two-run single to center.
Â
Drew kept the game close through the seventh inning thanks to some solid relief work from Tim Jinks. But the Ducks broke the game open late, scoring 10 runs across the seventh and eighth innings. .
