EWING, N.J. (April 16, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team earned a big 6-3 victory over No. 30 The College of New Jersey Saturday in a non-conference matchup at the TCNJ Tennis Complex.
A highly contested matchup, four of the six singles matches went three sets, as Stevens won its sixth straight to improve to 8-4 overall. The Lions fell to 12-2 overall with the loss. It was TCNJ's first loss since March 26. The Ducks have won five of the last six meetings between the programs.

"Our guys really stepped up today and earned a big win over nationally ranked TCNJ. We got off to a great start in doubles and managed the change in momentum very will during singles," said head coach
Steve Gachko. "I'm especially proud of Vivek, Matt and Philip pulling out gritty third set wins today. Our fitness both mentally and physically was the difference today and I;m very happy with how we are competing at this stage in the season."

The Ducks went 2-1 in doubles play to start the match. Graduate student
Keegan Morris and first-year
Olof Persson won 8-1 in the first position and senior
Marc Feliu and first-year
Troy Zhang won 8-5 in the second spot.

Singles play is where the action picked up. First-year
Matt Luzzi (5-7, 7-5, 6-3) earned a massive three-set victory to clinch the match for Stevens from the fifth position. Sophomore
Vivek Harinarayan (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) and junior
Philip Szkudlarski (6-4, 6-7, 6-3) also earned hard-fought singles victories at the third and sixth spots, respectively. Sophomore
Aashi Kulakarni was the only Duck to win in two sets. He earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at fourth singles.
