HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 19, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team defeated Arcadia by a score of 9-0 in a MAC Freedom matchup at the Stevens Tennis Courts on Tuesday, April 19.
Stevens secured a spot in the postseason and clinched the No. 1 seed with the win. They improved to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Knights fell to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
The Ducks swept all three doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead. Sophomore
Aashi Kulakarni and first-year
Sebastian Wroe won 8-1 in the first position, sophomore
Vivek Harinarayan and first-year
Troy Zhang won 8-0 in the second spot and senior
Brian Li and senior
Eloi Pradier won 8-1 at third.
Stevens continued their success at singles, winning all six matches. Zhang opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory from the fourth position. Wroe (6-1, 6-1) and Kulakarni (6-2, 6-0) followed that up with victories at third and second singles, respectively.
To close out the match, Harinarayan earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at the one spot, First-year
Olof Persson won 6-0, 6-1 at the fifth position and Pradier picked up the final win of the day at sixth singles by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Up Next: The Ducks return to action on Sunday, April 24, at home. They host Vassar on the Stevens Tennis Courts in a non-conference matchup starting at 12 p.m.
