HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 24, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team defeated Vassar by a score of 6-3 in a non-conference matchup at the Stevens Tennis Courts on Sunday, April 24.
It was the Ducks' eighth-straight win and the team improved to 10-4 on the season. The Brewers fell to 8-7 overall with the loss. It was a hard-fought win as five of the six singles matches went three sets.
Stevens went 2-1 in doubles play to take an early lead to start the match. Graduate student
Keegan Morris and first-year Olaf Persson won 8-6 in the first position and senior
Marc Feliu and first-year
Troy Zhang won 8-4 from the second spot.
Stevens continued their success at singles, winning four out of the six matches. Zhang came back from one down to win in a thriller from the sixth position by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 13-11. First-year Vivek Harinararyan (3-6, 7-5, 7-6) and sophomore
Aashi Kulakarni (5-7, 6-1, 7-5) also battled from a set down to win at third and fourth singles, respectively.
The sixth victory of the day came from Feliu at second singles. He also won in three sets by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Up Next: The Ducks return to action next weekend on Saturday, April 30, for their final regular season match of the season. They will face Lycoming at home for their senior day, starting at 11 a.m.
