DALLAS, Pa. (April 23, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was swept by MAC Freedom opponent Misericordia on the road, Saturday, April 23. They lost game one by a score of 1-0 and game two by a score of 4-0.
First-year
Matt Villapiano and junior
Anthony Pron combined to give up only three hits and onw run in the first game of the day. Senior
Brett Mendez and graduate student
Hunter Silvernail led the Ducks with two hits each over both games. Stevens fell to 25-12 and 11-7 in conference play with the losses.
Misericordia gave up only four hits and no runs in the first game. First-year Connor Maryniak led the Cougars with three hits over both games and junior Owen VanNewkirk led the team with three RBI. Misericordia improved to 23-12 and 13-5 in conference play with the wins.
"Just an outstanding game in the first one.

Anthony Pron combined for a masterful outing. We just couldn't get the big swing we needed either in game one or two," said head coach
Kristaps Aldins.
Game one was a battle as neither side could break through. Villapiano got the start and then Pron entered the game in the second inning. The game was scoreless through the first six innings until the Cougars scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to get the win. Pron (6-4) was credited with the loss in the effort.
In game two, the Ducks got another strong performance from the mound. Junior
Ryan Shea and graduate student
Alex Smith combined to only give up three hits. Misericordia scored on a fielder's choice in the second and then sealed the game with a three-run home run in the fourth to make the score 4-0. Stevens mustered only four hits and struggled to get the bats going. Shea (5-1) was credited with the loss.
Up Next: Stevens returns to the field, Friday, April 29. They take on conference opponent FDU-Florham at home starting at 3 p.m.
