HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 29, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team clinched a spot in the postseason and defeated MAC Freedom opponent FDU-Florham 5-4 on a walk off home run from junior

All five Stevens runs came from home runs. Graduate student

Ben Tobio each hit homers for the Ducks and junior
Anthony Pron (7-4) was credited with the win. The Ducks improved to 26-12 overall and 12-7 in conference play with the victory.
Senior Tyler McCullough went 3 for 4 with three RBI for FDU-Florham to lead the team. Graduate student Christian Capuono (4-4) pitched a complete game and struck out 10 batters but received the loss from the mound. The Devils fell to 19-17 overall and 8-11 in conference with the loss.
Stevens took a quick lead in the bottom of the first with some early fireworks. Silvernail hit a two-run blast to left field with two outs on the board to make the score 2-0. The Devils answered in the third with a single to right field that drove in two and tied the game at two runs apiece.
Both sides were scoreless through the next three innings until action picked up in the seventh. The Devils drove in a run on a single to take a 3-2 lead, but the lead did not last long. Tobio hit a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game.
The game continued to ramp up in the ninth inning. The Devils took another lead when McCullough doubled to right field to make the score 4-3 and the Ducks had to answer down one in the bottom of the ninth. Graduate student
Thomas Paulich hit a single to get on base for Stevens and then Reyes came to the plate and hit a bomb to right field to secure the win at 5-4.
Up Next: Stevens travels to Madison, N.J., to finish the season series with FDU-Florham. Game times are set for 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
