EDGEWATER, N.J. (May 7, 2022) – The top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team won their second-straight MAC Freedom title over No. 3 Wilkes, Saturday May 7. The Ducks captured the title with a 5-0 victory at Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, New Jersey. It is the team's 12th consecutive conference title.
It was the Stevens' 11th-straight win and the team improved to 13-4 on the season. The Colonels concluded their season with a 10-8 overall record.
Stevens swept the doubles matches and took an early lead to start the match. Sophomore
Aashi Kulakarni and first-year
Sebastian Wroe (8-0) won the first match of the day at third doubles. Senior
Marc Feliu and first-year
Troy Zhang won 8-3 from the second spot and graduate student
Keegan Morris and first-year
Olof Persson won 8-3 in the first position.
Stevens continued their strong play at singles and did not drop a single game. Kulakarni earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles and then sophomore
Andrew He clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep from the sixth position.
Kulakarni was named the MVP for his perforamce in the conference tournament.
Up Next: The Ducks earned an NCAA bid with the win and will await the results of the selection show on Monday, May 9, to determine their next matchup.
