HOBOKEN, N.J. (August 9, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team revealed its 2022 schedule Tuesday. The campaign features 17 matches, including eight at the DeBaun Athletic Complex, where the Ducks are 162-34-18 in matches at home since 2000 under 23rd-year head coach
Jeff Parker.
After playing one of the most challenging schedules in the country one season ago (Stevens had the fourth-toughest slate of all NCAA tournament participants), the Ducks will face five teams that participated in the 2021 NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Championship, including both of last year's finalists, as they aim for their seventh straight trip to the national tournament. Stevens currently has the ninth-longest streak of consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in Division III.
The season gets underway on Sept. 1 when the Ducks welcome No. 17 Messiah to campus. The six-time national champions are making their first trip to Hoboken since 2016 - a meeting in which Stevens came away with a 2-1 victory over the third-ranked Falcons.
A first-time meeting with Washington and Lee on Sept. 3 opens off the two-day Haverford Kickoff Classic. The Generals went 13-3-2 one season ago. The Ducks take on the hosting Fords one day later in the program's first match against Haverford in Pennsylvania. The two day event marks the first of seven trips to the Keystone State.
The 18th annual Engineering Cup begins on Sept. 9 with all four matches again returning to the DeBaun Athletic Complex after a brief hiatus. Stevens welcomes local rivals NYU and No. 2 TCNJ, along with the University of Redlands to Hoboken. The matchup with the Lions and the Violets will be the first match of the annual event with the contest between the Ducks and the Bulldogs set to follow. It is believed to be the first meeting between Stevens and Redlands. TCNJ and Redlands open play on Sept. 11 for their first meeting since 2007, while the first matchup since 2018 between the Ducks and the Violets wraps up the event.
The Ducks make their second trip to Pennsylvania on Sept. 17 to take on No. 10 Scranton for the first of three straight matches with nationally-ranked opponents. A home fixture with No. 2 TCNJ follows on Sept. 20 before Stevens heads to Newport News, Virginia for a first-time matchup with the defending national champions on Sept. 24. The Captains won their first national title last December to cap a 22-0-1 season.
The final non-conference matchup takes place on Sept. 28, when Stevens heads to Chester, Pennsylvania to take on Widener. The Ducks are 2-1 all-time against the Pride, although the Wednesday-night matchup is just the second meeting between the programs since 2003.
Conference play kicks off as the calendar turns to October, with King's coming to campus on Oct. 1 and FDU-Florham arriving three days later. Road contests at Wilkes (Oct. 8), Lycoming (Oct. 15) and DeSales (Oct. 18) are sprinkled around a home matchup with Delaware Valley (Oct. 12).
No. 7 Misericordia makes its first trip to Hoboken on Oct. 22 for the home finale and the Ducks wrap up the regular season on Oct. 26 at Arcadia.
Postseason play is set to begin on Oct. 31 with the MAC Freedom play-in game and the conference will crown its champion on Nov. 5.
