Men's Soccer Opens Season with Tie at Manhattanville

Graduate Student Sean Masur Scored the Lone Goal in the 1-1 Contest

PURCHASE, N.Y. (Sept. 1, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team opened their season with a 1-1 tie on the road against Manhattanville College, Thursday afternoon. Graduate student Sean Masur scored the team's lone goal.

The game began slowly and neither side was able to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of the game. The Ducks took six shots to the Valiants' one but were unable to put any of those shots on net. Senior goalkeeper Justin Cross made one save to keep the scored knotted at zero headed into the break.

Stevens struck quickly to start the second half. Masur found the back of the net on an unassisted effort just over one minute after the start of play in the 47th minute. Stevens held onto their lead until the 71st minute when Matt Rabadi tied the game for Manhattanville. The 1-1 score line held through the remainder of the game and both the Ducks and the Valiants opened their seasons with a 0-0-1 record.

Sophomore Luca Campbell led Stevens with four shots and the Ducks outshot Manhattanville 10 to 2, but the Valiants had two shots on goal to Stevens' one.
