Field Hockey Falls to Swarthmore on the Road

Emily Franco made a season-high nine saves in the loss

SWARTHMORE, Pa. (Sept. 10, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team fell to Swarthmore College on the road on Saturday evening. The Ducks fell by a score of 3-0 in the non-conference matchup. The loss broke a two-game winning streak for Stevens.
 
The Ducks battled through the first quarter but gave up a late goal to the Garnets in the final minute of the quarter to fall behind 1-0. It was Katherine Kohn who gave Swarthmore the early lead. Stevens held off the Garnets in the second, but Swarthmore continued to bring pressure. They outshot the Ducks 8 to 4 through the first 30 minutes and earned six penalty corners to Stevens' three.
 
The third period was scoreless as Stevens continued to hold off the Garnets' attack, but Swarthmore would break through in the fourth. Kohn scored her second of the game three minutes into the final quarter and then Grace Fuselier added the final goal a minute later to make the score 3-0.
 
The Ducks fell to 3-2 with the loss and Swarthmore improved to 3-1 on the season.
