No. 11 Men's Soccer Scores Late to Defeat TCNJ on the Road

Bruno Andino tallies the game-winning goal in the 87th minute

EWING, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2022) – The No. 11 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated The College of New Jersey on the road by a score of 2-1on Saturday afternoon. Senior Bruno Andino scored the game-winning goal in the 87th minute to give the Ducks the non-conference victory.
 
Stevens began the game on the offensive and quickly took a one-goal lead just over ten minutes into the game. Sophomore Emerico Vespucci capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity for his first goal of the season and the Ducks had an early 1-0 advantage. The Lions fought back after the goal. They outshot Stevens 5 to 3 in the first 45 minutes of action and senior goalkeeper Justin Cross made two saves to keep Stevens ahead. Despite their efforts, TCNJ was unable to find an equalizer in the first and the Ducks took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
The Lions finally broke through in the 61st minute. Justin Dominique slotted home a rebound off a Cross save and the game was tied at 1-1 with just under 30 minutes left to play. Stevens began to ramp up the intensity in the final third of the game. They forced the TCNJ goalie to make two saves in the second half and Andino finally broke through for his second goal of the season with just under four minutes remaining in the game. Sophomore Luca Campbell assisted on the play. The Ducks held on for the final few minutes and secured their sixth win of the season by a score of 2-1.
 
With the win, Stevens remained undefeated on the season and improved to 6-0-1. TCNJ dropped to 3-3-1 on the year with the loss.
