Men's Soccer Clinches Playoff Berth with Win Over Arcadia on Senior Day

Stevens can finish no worse as the two seed.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 21, 2023) - Graduate Bruno Andino scored the games lone goal as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated Arcadia 1-0 Saturday afternoon in a MAC Freedom contest.

The Ducks celebrated senior day prior to the contest, honoring graduates Jameson Railey and Gabriel Souza, along with seniors Fritz Kabeiseman, Dylan Maund, and Adam Cohen.

The Ducks (8-2-4, 4-0-1 MAC Freedom) have now clinched a top two seed in the MAC Freedom playoffs, guaranteeing themselves a home game in the semifinal round. The Ducks also remain unbeaten in conference play. Stevens has now won five out of their last six matches and have won the last three matches against Arcadia. The Knights (3-6-6, 0-1-4 MAC Freedom) lose their first conference game of the year and have not earned a win in either of their last seven games.

The first shot on target for either team did not come until the 21st minute as the two teams felt each other out early on. It was Arcadia who had the first shot, forcing graduate Justin Cross to make a save off of a free kick. The Ducks had their fair share of chances, as Maund, along with juniors Emerico Vespucci and Luca Campbell, each had attempts stopped in the half. The game remained tied at zero at the break.

Coming out of the break, Stevens scored in the 56th off the foot of Andino who tucked the ball into the left side of the goal from the right side of the box. Vespucci assisted on the play. After scoring, the Ducks were able to control the game and play more at their own pace, which allowed them to hold on for the 1-0 victory.
