STOCKTON, N.J. (October 28, 2023) – Junior Cleo Shannon had 13 kills and one block as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team fell to Stockton 3-0 (22-25, 24-26, 21-25) Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest
The Ducks (16-8) fell to Stockton after winning a crucial game this past Tuesday. Stevens has now lost two of its last three non-conference games. Stockton (18-9) has won seven of their last eight contests.
The Rundown
- Stevens had a .172 hitting percentage, while Stockton earned the win by hitting .248 percent.
- Leading 8-7 early in the first, Stockton then went on to score the next six points to take a 14-7 lead. Trailing 22-17, Stevens scored five in a row to tie things up. Senior Liz Patterson tallied two kills in the spurt. The Ospreys scored the final three points to take the set.
- The second set saw the Ducks go on an early 7-0 run to take a 9-3 lead. Sophomore Vivian Lisboa had two kills on the run while senior Madison Sappia tallied an ace. Throughout the set, the Ospreys never put together a big run, but kept clawing their way back and ultimately taking a 21-20 lead. They never trailed the rest of the way, taking the frame 26-24.
- The Ospreys were able to take the final set and sweep the Ducks. Similarly to the second set, Stockton never really put together an extended run, but they were able to hold off Stevens down the stretch. They won 25-21 in the third.
