DALLAS, Pa. (October 4, 2023) – Senior Liz Patterson had nine kills and recorded eight digs as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team defeated Misericordia 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-16) Wednesday night.
The Ducks (8-7, 3-0 MAC Freedom) remain perfect in conference play to start the season. They also remain perfect all-time against Misericordia, improving to 7-0. The Cougars (11-9, 2-1 MAC Freedom) suffered their first conference loss of the season.
The Rundown
- Stevens earned the victory with a .337 hitting percentage, while Misericordia hit .115 percent.
- The Ducks held a slim one point advantage after the first 15 points as they led 8-7. They followed that with a five point run to extend their lead to six. Later up 19-11, Stevens scored six of the final eight points as they took the first set 25-13. Junior Cleo Shannon had four kills in the set while Patterson added three.
- Misericordia got off to a good start in the second set, opening up with the first four points. The Cougars maintained their lead for most of the set as they led 18-13. After that, Stevens scored the next six points to take the lead. Shannon had three kills on the run. After the Cougars were able to take a 22-19 lead, Stevens scored six of the last seven points to win the set. Patterson had three kills on the final run to help the Ducks take a 2-0 lead.
- After storming back in the second set, Stevens carried that momentum over to the third as they were able to sweep Misericordia. Even though Stevens trailed 7-6, they shut down Misericordia with three mini-runs as they were able to remain perfect against the Cougars in the program's history.

- Shannon had nine kills and two blocks.
- Senior Madison Sappia totaled 12 digs, three assists, and added three aces.
- Sophomore Gabbi Roberts had 14 assists and six digs.
- First-year Molly Harris recorded 11 assists and five digs.
- Senior Bailey Axelrad had seven digs and two service aces.

- Fiona Pyfer had nine kills and four digs.
- Jenna Schuda had 16 assists and nine digs.
- Cassandra Genduso tallied six kills and one ace.
