Field Hockey Shuts Out King's on Senior Day

The Ducks' win streak is now at six.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 7, 2023) - Four different Ducks found the back of the goal as the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team defeated King's College 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Ducks celebrated senior day, honoring seniors Dani Hessels, Paulina Georgoutsos, Amanda Murnick, and Julia Zatyko, as well as graduates Lynda Farinella and Mackenzy Garden.

The Ducks (9-2, 1-0 MAC Freedom) kicked off conference play with a win and continue to find themselves on their longest winning streak of the season, now at six games. The wins have come against Drew, Eastern, Montclair State, Albright, Keystone, and King's (3-10, 0-1 MAC Freedom). With the win, Stevens remains undefeated at home this season.

Stevens dominated the game from start to finish. The Ducks had plenty of shots in the first quarter, but didn't put the ball into the goal until there were just 39 seconds on the clock. First-year Sophia Cozza scored off of a penalty corner on an assist from junior Makenna Quigley. The second quarter was very similar to the first, as the Ducks tallied another late goal, this time with just one second left, as first-year Jess Kopernick scored on a rebound off a shot from Farinella. Stevens led 2-0 at the half.

The Ducks took a three goal lead just minutes into the third quarter as junior Alisyn Fink scored her second of the season. Like the first two quarters, Stevens again scored late, this time with three seconds left, as Farinella scored on an assist from first-year Kylee Scherer. Neither team scored in the final frame as the Ducks would go on to win 4-0.
