NEW YORK (November 3, 2023) – Seniors Elle Maggio and Liz Patterson each had nine kills but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team fell to No. 7 NYU 3-1 (25-15, 9-25, 14-25, 20-25) Friday night.
The Ducks (17-9) have now lost three of their last four non-conference matches, with two of those losses coming against top ten teams. Stevens has now lost three straight to NYU (24-4).
The Rundown
- Stevens hit a .071 hitting percentage, while NYU hit .246 percent.
- Despite NYU opening up with the first five points, The Ducks scored 10 of the next 12 to take a 10-7 lead. Later in the set with the Ducks up 18-15, they rattled off the last seven points to win the set 25-15. Junior Cleo Shannon, first-year Molly Harris, and sophomore Vivian Lisboa each had a kill on the run, while senior Madison Sappia had two aces.
- The second set was dominated by the Violets as they tied things up. After going up 12-6, they went on a 8-0 run to take a 20-6 lead. The violets would win 25-9.
- NYU started off the third set on a 13-5 run. Stevens was only able to put together back-to-back points twice, scoring two-in-a-row in both instances. NYU won 25-14.
- The fourth set was very close to start as NYU held a slim 9-8 lead after 17 points played. The Violets extended their lead with a 6-0 run after that. Down 24-17, Maggio put together three-straight kills, but it was too late as NYU would hold on to win 25-20.

- Patterson added 19 digs.
- Lisboa had seven digs and two kills.
- Sappia totaled 13 digs and two aces.
- Sophomore Gabbi Roberts had 14 assists and six digs.
- First-year Molly Harris had 11 assists and six digs.
For the Opponents
- Grace Nelson had 18 kills and three digs.
- Ava Launsbach had 20 assists and 10 digs.
- Lindsey Hirano tallied 16 digs and six assists.
