HOBOKEN, N.J. (December 7, 2023) - The Stevens Institute of Technology Athletic programs has one team ranked in the latest round of Division III national rankings, while men's fencing is ranked in their Division III poll.

Wrestling is ranked 25th in the latest NWCA polls for team tournament rankings. For individuals ranked nationally in the NWCA, Luke Hoerle is ranked 10th at 133, Nico Diaz is ranked 15th at 141, Ryan Smith is ranked 6th at 157, Harrison Hinojosa is ranked 10th at 165, Stefan Major is ranked 13th at 174, and senior Joel Martsinovsky is ranked 10th at 184. For individual regional rankings by the NWCA, the Ducks have eight ranked, including Akhil Vega is ranked 4th at 125, Hoerle is ranked 1st at 133, Diaz is ranked 4th at 141, Ryan Smith is ranked 1st at 157, Hinojosa is ranked 2nd at 165, Major is ranked 2nd at 174, Martsinovsky is ranked 2nd at 184, and Blaise Wagner is ranked 5th at 197. For theD3wrestle individual rankings, Vega is listed as a contender at 125, Hoerle is ranked 10th at 133, Diaz is ranked 6th at 141, Ryan Smith is ranked 4th at 157, Hinojosa is ranked 9th at 165, Major is ranked 6th at 174, Martsinovsky is listed as a contender at 184, and Wagner is listed as a contender at 197.

Men's basketball received one vote in the latest d3hoops.com poll as the Ducks have a 7-1 record to start the season. In the last game against Brooklyn, head coach Bobby Hurley reached his 250th career win. Junior Jack Spellman also set the program's career block record in the game, as his total now sits at 189. They have no ranked teams remaining on the schedule this season.

Men's and women's fencing are both not ranked nationally, but the men's team is ranked fifth in Division III. Neither team competes again till the end of January. 

Men's and women's swimming both did not receive votes in their November polls. This past weekend, the teams took place in the TCNJ Invitational, with the women finishing second and the men finishing third. Juniors Edward Platonov and Kai Wong were each named the MAC Swimmers of the week. Both teams are off until January.

Women's basketball is not ranked in either the d3hoops.com poll or the WBCA poll. Stevens opened up the season 3-0, but now sit at 5-3. The Ducks have three ranked contests remaining on the schedule, including a big time matchup against No. 3 Christopher Newport and two coming against DeSales in conference play.

Men's and women's indoor track kicked off their season last Saturday at the Armory hosted by TCNJ. Graduate student Kristen Williams won the 60-meter hurdles to lead the team. The meet was not team scored. No rankings have been released yet. Graduate student Laura Mathews and sophomore Brandon Kiefer will each compete in multi at Lehigh this weekend.

 

The national polls for the in season sports consist of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for men's and women's cross country, the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America for men's and women's swimming, D3hoops.com for men's and women's basketball, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for women's basketball, the National Association of Basketball Coaches for men's basketball, the United States Fencing Coaches Association for men's and women's fencing, as well as d3wrestle.com and the National Wrestling Coaches Association for wrestling.
