Sebastian Wroe each forced a deciding third set in singles play, but No. 38 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis fell to No. 16 Wesleyan University 9-0 Thursday in a non-conference match at the USTA National Tennis Center,
Kulakarni took Wesleyan's J.T. Bilski to a third set at first singles before dropping a 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 decision as the Ducks dropped to 3-5.
Wesleyan claimed all three doubles matches and all six singles flights to improve to 5-2. The Cardinals have won all three meetings in the all-time series.
After Wesleyan claimed all three doubles flights via identical 8-3 scores, the Cardinals then posted four wins in straight sets in singles competition. Wroe played to a third set at sixth singles against Harry Portnoy before dropping a 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 decision.
The contest was the Ducks' sixth against a nationally-ranked opponent.
Up Next: No. 38 Men's Tennis plays its final non-league road contest on Mar. 26, when the Ducks travel to Swarthmore, Pennsylvania to take on No. 29 Swarthmore. The teams have split their last four meetings.
