ORLANDO, Fla. (March 16, 2023) – First-year
Stephanie Untermeyer had a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team defeated SUNY Oneonta 8-1 Thursday in a non-conference match at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The Ducks captured all three doubles flights and five of the six singles contests to win their first match of the year to improve to 1-5.
Maxie Karen was victorious at third singles to account for the line point of the day for the Red Dragons, who dropped to 8-8.
Untermeyer paired with first-year
Anya Sharma to post an 8-3 win at second doubles over Stephanie Schutte and Brianna Shaw. The 8-3 result was also found on line one, where graduate student
Agatha Malinowski and junior
Polina Odintseva downed Karen and Julia Holtermann. Sophomore
Isabella Dona and senior
Juliette Marchisio wrapped up the sweep with an 8-1 victory over Jessica Harris and Danielle Copp on line three.
In singles play, the Ducks won all five of their matches in straight sets. Following Untermeyer's shutout of Holtermann on line one, Malinowski dropped just four games in posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over Schutte on line two. Sophomore

Fionna Flores also nearly spun shutouts in their respective flights, with each student-athlete only dropping one game in identical 6-0, 6-1 decisions at fourth and sixth singles. Dona closed out the impressive victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win on line five.
Up Next: Women's Tennis continues non-conference play on March 25, when the Ducks travel to the Keystone State for a match with Haverford College. It is believed to be just the third all-time meeting between the programs.
