No. 3 Men's Soccer Shuts Out Babson 1-0

It is the second win in as many days for the Ducks.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 10, 2023) - Junior Luca Campbell scored a goal in the first half while graduate Justin Cross kept a clean sheet as the No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated Babson College 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The third ranked Ducks (2-1-1) have earned back-to-back wins in two days after starting winless over the first two. It was the first meeting between Stevens and Babson (2-2-1). The clean sheet was the second of the season for Cross and for the Ducks.

For the third straight game, Stevens struck early in the match as Campbell connected for his second goal of the season at the 17 minute mark. After a ball was played in, Campbell one timed a ball on net that was stopped by the Babson keeper. Campbell then backheeled the rebound into the back of the net to put the Ducks up 1-0. Babson hit the post later in the half, but Stevens would maintain their 1-0 lead at the break.

Cross was called into action three minutes into the second half, but he stood tall and kept the Ducks in front. In the 62nd minute junior Emerico Vespucci tested the Beaver goalie, but his attempt was saved. Babson fell to ten men in the 87th minute as they were trying to get back into the game, but they were unable to score as the Ducks were victorious 1-0.
