Men's Soccer Dominates TCNJ in 3-0 Victory

Two Ducks earned their first career goals.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 16, 2023) - Sophomore Brian Babovic and junior Tomas Martini each scored their first career goals as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The Ducks (3-1-1) have earned three victories in a row after a slow start to the season. It was the 21st meeting between Stevens and TCNJ (2-4-1). The Ducks have now won three straight contests against the Lions and six of the last seven. The clean sheet was the third of the season for graduate Justin Cross and the Ducks defense.

For the fourth straight game, Stevens got off to a good start as they struck early in the match. In the 15th minute, Babovic received a pass from graduate Jameson Railey, took a defender on to his right, and then struck a shot that went bar down to put the Ducks up 1-0. Stevens would later double their lead in the 42nd minute as Martini pounced on a bad clearance and guided the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal. Stevens would lead 2-0 at the break.

The second half provided more success for the Ducks as they were able to extend their advantage without succeeding. Junior Luca Campbell was able to get on a loose ball and dribble around his defender before firing a shot just outside the box into the goal. Stevens would have more chances to add on to the lead, including a goal called back for offside. The Ducks would walk away with a clean 3-0 victory to cap a three-game day at DeBaun.
