CHESTER, Pa. (September 26, 2023) - Graduate Bruno Andino scored twice on the night but it wasn't enough as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team fell 3-2 to Widener Tuesday night.
The Ducks (3-2-3) lost for just the first time in their last six games. Widener (8-0-0) has yet to lose this season after scoring the winning goal in the final 15 seconds of the game. In their two losses, the Ducks have allowed the winning goal to come in the final two minutes of each game. Stevens has also yet to win a road game this season.
It was a tale of two halves as the Ducks got off to a quick start as Andino was able to find the opening goal just six minutes into the game to put the Ducks up 1-0. He would double his tally in the 18th minute to put Stevens in front by two. Both goals were unassisted. Widener was unable to test graduate Justin Cross until the 36th minute, but were denied on the attempt. Stevens led 2-0 at the break.
The Ducks allowed the Pride to crawl back into the game early in the second half as they scored in the 49th minute. Fighting hard to find the equalizer, it came for Widener in the 63rd minute. Despite both teams trading chances down the stretch, it was Widener who found the winner with little time remaining as they won 3-2.
