ANNVILLE, Pa. (January 27, 2024) - Junior Jack Spellman had 12 points and 13 rebounds while graduate student Stephen Braunstein scored 17 points as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team defeated Lebanon Valley 66-53 in MAC Freedom play Saturday afternoon.
The Ducks improved to 15-4 and 6-2 in MAC Freedom play. It was the Ducks' first ever road game at Lebanon Valley, and the Ducks improve to 2-0 over the Dutchmen all-time. Stevens is also on a three game winning streak. Stevens remains in third place in the conference standings while Lebanon Valley is in sixth. The top four teams qualify for the MAC Freedom tournament.
Neither team was able to score until the 18:15 point as Braunstein nailed a triple to go up three. The Ducks' next three baskets also came from deep, as senior Mike Goodall and graduate student Conor Coffey also hit from long range, while Braunstein hit another to cap off the streak. Up 12-11, Braunstein made a layup to go back up three. With 9:27 to go, first-year Kyle Maddison got into the action from deep as his three put Stevens up 21-14. Lebanon Valley would come back and get within two, but the final six minutes of the half belonged to the Ducks. Goodall, Braunstein, and sophomore Matt Leming all hit threes in the final minutes as Stevens held a 35-24 advantage over the Dutchmen.
Up 37-30, Braunstein made another shot from deep just minutes into the second to put the Ducks up ten. The Dutchmen then went on a run and would get within five with 13:31 on the clock, and then within two with 11:02 to go. Goodall then converted and and-one to give some momentum back to the Ducks. Up four with just over six to go, Spellman went to work. He went on a a personal 10-0 run that gave Stevens a 14-point advantage. Leming would hit the dagger three with 1:29 to go, as the Ducks were victorious at Lebanon Valley to complete the sweep on the season.

- Lebanon Valley shot 31.6 percent (18-57) from the field and 25.0 percent (5-20) from three. They also went 12-17 from the free throw line (70.6%).
