Women's Cross Country Hits PR's At Rowan Border Battle

Glassboro, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team took 13th at the Rowan Border Battle on Saturday morning.

The Ducks tallied 364 team points in the 6K.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate student Nina Burden led the Ducks for the first time this season, tallying a 53rd place time of 23:16.9. Senior Fionna Feerick was second with a mark of 23:30.5, with newcomer Isabella Gabay behind her in 23:31.2. Sophomore Kaitlyn Adams took 79th in 23:45.8, while first-year Madeline Bender rounded the scorers for Stevens with a 129th place time of 24:43.8.

Seniors Samantha Rozek (25:06.3) and Jacqueline Lulaj (25:07.1) went back-to-back finish in the
top-150, as first-year Anya Sadowski clocked in at 25:12.3. First-year Catherine Bondi (26:25.2), junior Taylor Enes (26:30.7), sophomore Kate Cen (27:12), and sophomore Gianna Adamo (28:31.7) also ran for Stevens.

INSIDE THE MEET
  • Burden, Feerick, Gabay, Adams, Bender, Sadowski, Bondi, Cen, and Adamo all registered PR's in the 6K.
FROM THE COURSE (Head Coach John Kolibab)
  • "The Border Battle at Rowan is always a great way to end our regular season.  We see great competition, and the course is great for moving fast.  We had a whole bunch of positive things to take away from the meet, and the teams looked very strong headed into Championship season!"
  • "Our women's team improved upon a strong season with some incredible performances today.  Our top 4 of Nina Burden, Fionna Feerick, Isabella Gabay, and Kaitlyn Adams ran 23:16, 23:30, 23:31, and 23:45.  Those times are the fastest, the second fastest, the third fastest, and the fifth fastest times posted for our Cross Country Women's team since 2018.  I had to check that stat three times to make sure it was correct, because it seems unfathomably cool.  It's a testament to not only those four, but to the entire team about how much our program is growing and improving.  From top to bottom the team had an incredible day, and I'm so excited to see what they can do at the MAC Championships."
UP NEXT
After a week off, the Ducks will return to Messiah University on November 2 for the Middle Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships.
