Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Storms Back To Top Arcadia 2-1

Glenside, Pa. – Senior Tomas Martini tallied his second career goal in the 85th minute for the game-winning marker as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team erased a 1-0 halftime deficit in a 2-1 victory over Arcadia University on Wednesday.

Kyle Rothwell added the game-tying goal in the 80th minute for Stevens (7-3-3, 4-0-0 MAC Freedom) as Sean Lock scored the lone goal for Arcadia (11-4-2, 1-2-1 MAC Freedom).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens controlled play early, taking the first seven shots of the afternoon. Rothwell was denied in the 12th minute for the lone shot on goal, with Rothwell, Ethan Hagen, and Ben Goldberg taking turns going at goal midway through the period. The Knights broke in the 26th minute after Martin Fields received a yellow card for taking a man down in the box. Lock stepped to the penalty spot and beat a diving Guillermo Castaneda-Chang, who guessed right but just missed.

The Ducks hunted for the equalizing marker during the rest of the frame, with Dylan Maund having a shot saved in the 33rd minute by Logan Gildea. Three minutes later, Emerico Vespucci was denied by Gildea to close out Stevens' best attempts of the opening 45 minutes. Despite outshooting Arcadia 13-1, they entered halftime down 1-0.

Neither was able to put a shot on frame for the first 18 minutes of the second stanza before Luke Carey's attempt in the 64th minute was rejected by Gildea. Arcadia
was reduced to 10 men after a straight red card in the 76th minute on Aidan McGrath. The Ducks leveled the match in the 80th minute off a set piece. Maund sent in a service that Fields flicked onto Rothwell, who knocked the pass into the goal for the tying goal. Stevens broke through for the game-winner in the 85th minute. A loose ball found the foot of Martini, and he fired from distance into the top left corner, giving Stevens a 2-1 lead. Castaneda-Chang preserved the victory, making a stop in the 87th minute to give the Ducks the victory.
