Men's Golf Visits Georgia For West Pines Collegiate

Douglasville, Ga. – The Stevens Institute of Technology golf team competed at the West Pines Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday.

The Ducks shot a +91 over the three rounds, going +27 in round 1, +17 in round 2, and +47 in the final round.


HOW IT HAPPENED
Maxine Debets was Stevens' top finisher, carding a +10 over the three rounds and taking 51st. After shooting +6 with two birdies in the opening round, Debets notched an even-par 71 in the second. He tallied consecutive birdies on seven and eight before closing the second 18 with a two on the par-3 15th and a four on the par-5 17th. Debets closed out the tournament with a birdie on 17.

Newcomer Evan Murphy was +20, shooting +9. +3, and +8. In the second round, he registered eight consecutive pars on the front nine and posted seven straight pars on holes 11-17. The 15th hole was his best over the two days, recording two pars and a bogey. 
Sebastian Beaver shot +28 and registered his only two birdies of the tournament during the third round. He was +2 through nine in round three, birdieing seven and nine.

Penn Chittaratlert was just behind him, notching a +30. He posted five birdies over the first two rounds, with all five coming on holes 10-15. In round one, he recorded a two on the 
par-3 10th before tallying a three on the par-4 14th. He registered consecutive birdies on the par-4 11th and 12th before posting a two on the par-3 15th. Ben Slicker was the final competitor for Stevens, registering a +33. Slicker had two birdies in the second round and went back-to-back on the par-4 seventh and par-5 eighth in round three.
