Women's Swimming In The Lead After Day One of TCNJ Invitational

Ewing, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swim team is in first place after the first day of The College of New Jersey Invitational.

The Ducks tallied 375 points over the six events.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens nabbed two of the top-four spots in the 200-freestyle relay. The foursome of Allie Halverson, Rachel Merrifield, and Olivia Shusta took first in 1:35.53, as Natalia Brunetti, Paige Bleckley, Kylie Martinez, and Gabby Sokolik were fourth in 1:41.75. Martinez (5:18) led a trio of Duck finishers in the 500-freestyle. Emery Fitzharris was second in 5:18.45 as Gabby Tyer was third in 5:19.47.

Eszter Kiss was first in the 200-IM in 2:10.22 as Sophia Patz (2:12.64) and Hanna Matheson (2:14.32) registered top-four times. Ashley Settle (2:18.35) and Sokolik (2:19.62) went back-to-back in the same event, as Merrifield (2:22.3) and Anjali Gupta (2:25.21) qualified for the "B" final. Delaney Klaus won the 50-free in 24.4 as Adriana Bertolotti (25.55), Sokolik (26.00), and Bleckley (26.08) made the "A" finals.

The Ducks closed out the day with top-three times in the 400-medley relay. Kai Wong, Kiss, Brunetti, and Klaus took first in 3:58.34, Patz, Bertolotti, Matheson, and Martinez were second in 4:05.24, and Melissa Misurelli, Settle, Tyer, and Sokolik were third in 4:08.96.
