Top to Bottom Contributions Pace Men’s Basketball to Fourth Straight Win, 74-54 over Brooklyn

Hoboken, N.J. – Seven different players scored at least six points for the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team Wednesday night as the Ducks ran their win streak to four, wrapping up the 2024 portion of their schedule with a wire-to-wire 74-54 victory over Brooklyn College at Canavan Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jack Spellman and Kyle Maddison each converted tough layups amidst a sea of bodies for the first four points of the game. Tommy Scholl made a pair of free throws between a Brooklyn layup and three-pointer, keeping the Ducks in front, 6-5.

After allowing the three, the Stevens (7-2) defense locked in, holding Brooklyn (3-7) without a point for more than five and a half minutes. During that stretch, layups from Mike Goodall, Maddison, and Lucas Green, plus a pair of Scholl three-pointers pushed the Stevens lead out to 13 at the 12:54 mark.

The Bulldogs worked the deficit back to eight over the following four minutes and change, but a Goodall three and back-to-back Spellman layups ignited an extended 19-9 run for the Ducks to end the half, with Goodall burying a three in the final 20 seconds. The Ducks finished with 11 assists on 14 made baskets in the opening 20, five coming from Maddison.

Brendan Coughlan lit up the scoreboard early in the second half, going on an 11-2 run by himself courtesy of two jump hooks, a layup, two free throws, and a three-pointer.

After Brooklyn took a full timeout down 25 just past four minutes gone in the half, layups by Goodall and Maddison, followed by an Anthony Loscalzo three expanded the lead to 30 at the 13:23 mark.

The lead did not dwindle below 20 the rest of the game, eventually ballooning to 33 before the Bulldogs scored 18 of the game's final 23 points after both teams cleared their benches.
