Previglian Wins High Jump, Long In Season Opener

Reading Pa. / Bethlehem, Pa. – Junior Maggie Previglian posted wins in the high jump and long jump to highlight top performances for the Stevens Institute of Technology women's indoor track & field team at a pair of meets on Saturday.

Stevens competed in both the Fast Times Before Break at Lehigh University while also running at the Alvernia Winter Meet. Neither meet had a team score, with the competition featuring several MAC and regional opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Previglian posted Middle Atlantic Conference qualifying marks in both the high jump (1.58m) and long jump (4.59m), winning the high jump by .06m and long jump by a mere .01m. In the long jump, she edged teammate Caroline Tighe, who turned in a distance of 1.52m. Tighe grabbed third place in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 10.55, advancing to the MAC Championship meet.

Ella Santoro placed second in the long jump (4.82m) and sixth in the high jump (1.27m), while Isabel Vogel was second in the 400m (1:05.05). Competing in the track & field for the first time after a successful season with the women's soccer team, Lauren Alley took second in the 60 hurdles, notching a time of 10.24.

In the field events, Anacarolina Ventura took fourth in the weight throw (12.15m), as Michelle Elias Flores was ninth (10.12m). Claire Deatrick (10.11m), Josephine Lulaj (9.67m), Breona Pizzuta (7.91m), and Sarah Lovelsmith (6.85m) also competed in the weight throw.

INSIDE THE MEET
  • Previglian moved up on the top-10 list in the high jump, sliding up two places, and is now tied with teammate Maya Lapinski for sixth overall.
UP NEXT
The Ducks close out 2024 next Friday as they compete in the Seahawk Shootout, hosted by Wagner College, at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex.
